Today, we began another job which encompassed installing tile on a porch floor. This particular job is of interest simply because our homeowner decided to change the theme of her closed in porch or 3 seasons room. As Kathy began to plan her changes to the colors in this room she realized that the accent tile that we installed in this floor several years earlier would no longer match her new taste. No worries. We simply removed the old "green" colored inserts and will be installing a new color that our homeowner has picked out. In these series of pictures you can see that our installer, Shane has been busy removing these inserts. This task, though not impossible is still a little tricky. Shane first had to remove the grout surrounding the 4" x 4" insert and then carefully break upt the insert with a hammer to be able to remove it without disrupting the surrounding tiles. The "orange" color is the Ditra Matting by Schluter Industries. This was the underlayment originally used for this job.
These last two shots were taken one day later as Shane was putting the final touches on this project. Here we can see Shane washing down the SpectraLOCK Grout and the new inserts are seen.
