We have started in at a job up in North Bethany Beach with all three crews working steadily on 3 of the 6 bathrooms in this particular house. Today I wanted to write about Jason and the work he is doing in the Guest Bathroom. This shot shows a mosaic in a 10" x 10" mesh mount sheet that Jason is installing on the walls of the shower. Jason is busy explaining to me how the pattern match is working out on the mosaics. If you look closely you can see the plastic covering over each individual sheet. This is what holds the mosaics together before they are set in the mortar. Once they are dry the plastic is removed, the mosaics are cleaned and then grouted.

Jason is also getting ready to install a Peach colored natural stone in the kitchen and dining room area. As shown in the below picture the hardwood contractor has installed a wood border ahead of time to surround each 16" x 16" stone. The lighter colored pieces in the middle of each border are simply pieces of plywood. These are temporarily installed until the stone is set in place.

Installing these tiles will be somewhat tricky since once they are set down in their bed of mortar there will be no way to get them back up. Picking the tiles back up may be necessary if one or more corners is low. Jason may need to place a little more mortar under the respective corner. To do this Jason came up with the idea of using a string under the tile that can be used to pull the tile up and also slipped out from under the tile and mortar when finished.
